GEORGE TOWN: The Penang state assembly will meet from Aug 30 to Sept 8 in the newly upgraded state assembly building.
Penang state assembly speaker Datuk Law Choo Kiang also said Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak will officiate the opening.
He said the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the National Security Council (NSC) will be strictly adhered to, with all assemblymen having to undergo Covid-19 screening before being allowed in.
"No media will be allowed, except the state government's official Buletin Mutiara, which can disseminate additional information, as others can follow the proceedings virtually," Law said on Thursday (Aug 26).
The state assembly last held a sitting for six days, beginning Oct 12, 2020.
However, a two-day informal engagement session was held at a hotel during the Emergency in March this year.
Law said a briefing on the agenda and other details of the assembly will be conducted with Buletin Mutiara on Saturday (Aug 28).
