KANGAR (Bernama): The Perlis state legislative assembly has approved the motion submitted by Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man, to appoint two members of the Senate.

       They are Aziz Ariffin, 68, and Seruandi Saad, 54, who will hold the posts for a period of three years.

       The motion to appoint Aziz was seconded by Ruzaini Rais (BN-Beseri), while Seruandi's appointment was seconded by Rozieana Ahmad (BN-Pauh), and the state assembly unanimously supported the motion on Thursday (Aug 26).

       Aziz, the Padang Besar Umno division secretary, replaces Kamaruddin Abdun, whose term ended on July 25.

       He is also active in a Perlis Angkasa Liaison non-governmental organisation (NGO) as a committee member since 2014.

       Meanwhile, Seruandi, a special officer to Arau MP Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, was appointed to replace Sabani Ahmad.

       Seruandi, who has been the Arau Umno division secretary since 2008, is also active in NGOs such as the Perlis branch chairman of the Malaysian Youth Council Alumni and as a member of the Kangar Municipal Council. – Bernama
