PETALING JAYA: The Health Ministry has apologised for a MySejahtera glitch that had put random people under home surveillance for Covid-19.
The bug in the MySejahtera application caused some people to be put under the Covid-19 Home Surveillance Order (HSO) and Person Under Surveillance (PUS) statuses on their mobile phones.
The MySejahtera team apologised for the bug via its Twitter account on Sunday (Nov 7) morning.
“Good morning everyone - we apologise for the error on our part which allowed random users' to be given HSOs/PUS status.
“We have fixed the root cause which allowed this to happen.
“All incorrect HSOs have been deleted, and incorrect PUS status reverted,” the tweet read.
At press time, at least several dozen Twitter users had replied to the tweet claiming they had erroneously received said HSO notice on their app despite not having left home or not having close contact with Covid-19 positive people in the past two weeks.
Twitter user @lokkhee1999 said that he received a PUS notification despite not having gone out in the past two weeks.
“Hi @my_sejahtera,I'm only staying at home all the time, then suddenly today I receive a notification saying my status is now 'Person Under Surveillance (PUS)'. For my history,I have not even go out anywhere within 14days, please check into this,” he tweeted.
User @ewok74 said he has been facing the problem since 7.40am this morning.
"I’ve not been to any high risk locations nor in contact with anyone with C19... this is really affecting my mental well being."
Another user, @ssaravs said that even after MySejahtera announced that they had fixed the issue, many still faced the same problem.
"This announcement is really irresponsible as now we are uncertain if the status is correct or not."
Echoing the sentiment, @dbpapa123 said he has been home the past month and is now unsure if the status change is due to the glitch.
"I would like to know if my PUS status is related to said issues or not, because my PUS status still remains after I update my mysejahtera profile".
Twitter user Farhan Zahari said the status on his MySejahtera had given him panic attacks.
“Mine still have!! This cause me panic attacks!!!” he said in his Twitter post.
Twitter user Nicol Chong, meanwhile, said that as of 8.45am on Sunday, she was still a PUS.
“It's still there! How am I supposed to remove it?!?” she tweeted.
Good morning everyone - we apologise for the error on our part which allowed random users' to be given HSOs/PUS status. We have fixed the root cause which allowed this to happen. All incorrect HSOs have been deleted, and incorrect PUS status reverted.
