Prince George, eight, Princess Charlotte, six, and Prince Louis, three, broke up for the summer holidays last month. While Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, 39, and Prince William, 39, have enjoyed holidaying abroad in previous years, since the pandemic they have stayed put in Britain.

This year the Cambridge family have returned to the Isles of Scilly off the coast of Cornwall, Hello Magazine reports.

This is not the first time Kate and William have chosen the secluded spot for a family getaway.

They were spotted cycling around the privately-owned Tresco Island in 2020.

William and his brother Prince Harry, 36, also holidayed on the island as children and stayed there with parents, Prince Charles and Princess Diana in 1989.

While most lockdown restrictions were lifted in England on July 19, curbs on international travel remain and it seems the Cambridges, like many Britons, decided to stay put in the UK instead.

William and Kate are huge fans of nature and encourage their children to play outdoors as much as possible.

Last year the royal couple were spotted out enjoying bike rides around the isles by locals.

One eye witness said at the time: "William and Kate were riding their bicycles, having a laugh. They looked so happy enjoying the weather."

They added: “I did do a double-take. They were really friendly and said hello.”

Kate and William are likely to be enjoying a well-deserved break after what has been a hectic year for the couple.

Not only has the Firm come under attack from Harry and Meghan during their interview with Oprah Winfrey but the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have taken on more responsibilities to fill the gap left by Megxit.

Last month Kate delighted fans by sharing a new photo of Prince George to mark his eighth birthday.

The young royal is the subject of a new HBO Max's animated comedy "The Prince", the trailer for which was released last week and has prompted outrage from royal fans.

The series ridicules the Royal Family and portrays Prince George as spoilt and sassy.

Reacting to the series, Baroness Karren Brady branded it "disgraceful" and said: "From the clips I have seen, it is offensive drivel. It’s not funny.

She added: "In fact, the way it portrays the lovely little Prince George is disgraceful."

As well as enjoying a break in Cornwall, the Cambridges could travel to Scotland to see the Queen later this summer.

The Queen has been at Balmoral in the Scottish Highlands since last month and is expected to stay their until autumn.

She usually welcomes family members throughout the summer break and this year will be particularly poignant as it's the first time she has visited since Prince Philip's death.

When the Cambridges Cornish break comes to an end they are likely to return to their country residence Anmer Hall in Norfolk.
