Ahmad Faizal received about RM40,000 for 12-day stint as former PM's special adviser

       KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu was paid a salary of about RM27,000 a month as the special adviser to former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

       In a parliamentary written reply, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said Ahmad Faizal was paid a pro-rated amount of his RM27,227.20 monthly salary and a replacement for termination of service notice with one month's salary.

       "The position does not involve a pension payment," said Ismail Sabri in reply to a question from Lim Lip Eng (PH-Kepong).

       Lim had asked the Prime Minister to state the total salary received by the Tambun MP as a special advisor to Muhyiddin, with a ministerial rank.

       Ahmad Faizal was appointed as the special adviser to Muhyiddin on Aug 5, and the former prime minister tendered his resignation on Aug 16.

       Ismail explained that the former Perak mentri besar was appointed as an adviser with ministerial status to advise the prime minister on community networking matters.

       "He was entrusted to create close ties between the government and community leaders, improve the people's understanding of government policies through effective communication channels, as well as improve the government delivery system from socio-economic aspects," Ismail Sabri added.

       Ahmad Faizal is the Youth and Sports Minister, Chenderiang assemblyman and also Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia deputy president.
