The 30-year-old got into the vehicle after cops arrested another man outside Faces nightclub in Gants Hill on October 21, 2018, an inquest heard.
Kayne was allegedly told by the man to "get rid of it" - although there is no evidence to suggest he was the thief, The Mirror reports.
Helicopter footage shows him driving erratically before hurtling down the wrong side of the road.
Four police cars followed behind as he drove the wrong way around a roundabout on the North Circular Road before heading straight into oncoming traffic.
He then collided with the lorry and died shortly before 4am.
The Sun Online has chosen not to show the moment of impact.
HORROR CHASE
Kayne was nearly three times the drink-drive limit of 80mg per 100ml of blood, with 228mg in his system, Walthamstow Coroner’s Court heard.
Traces of THC - the psychoactive substance found in cannabis - were also found by a toxicologist.
A cause of death of a head injury that was "incompatible with life" - consistent with a road traffic collision - was given by pathologist Dr Hiam Ali.
Alcohol and cannabis were recorded as contributing factors.
PC Graham Brooks told the jury he stopped pursuing Kayne after assessing the impact of carrying a "tactical contact" to other drivers on the road.
He added: "I'm also now coming to terms with having to let that vehicle go and watching it drive now towards oncoming vehicles.
"If you are honestly in that situation where you are about to watch someone potentially die it's a horrendous situation to be in."
Kayne died just days before he was due to move into a house in girlfriend Bonnie Exley and their daughter.
