KUALA LUMPUR: Petronas Gas Bhd’s (PetGas) 65% owned-subsidiary, Pengerang LNG (Two) Sdn Bhd (PLNG2), is inviting participation in a non-binding expression of interest (EOI) for a proposed new liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage tank in Pengerang.

PetGas said the EOI is aimed at assisting PLNG2 in assessing the feasibility of constructing a third LNG storage tank at its existing onshore LNG Regasification Terminal in Pengerang (RGTP).

“The proposed new facility will provide potential customers with a competitive advantage as it is strategically located along the global LNG trading routes, coupled with the availability of the existing regasification and reloading facilities,” it said in a statement yesterday.

PetGas pointed out that the facility would be an effective solution to support the anticipated increase in LNG demand in Asia as the world transitions towards a cleaner energy landscape.

PetGas said PLNG2 owns, operates and maintains the RGTP, which currently features two LNG storage tanks with a total capacity of 400,000 cubic metres.

It said PLNG2 also provided a wide range of services, including LNG regasification with a capacity of 490 million standard cubic feet per day as well as reloading, gassing up and cooling down.

It added that subject to the project’s final investment decision, the new storage is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2025. — Bernama
