KUCHING: Strict standard operating procedures (SOP) have been put in place for the ongoing Keluarga Malaysia Citrawarna programme at the Kuching Waterfront to ensure public safety, says Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.

The Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister said the SOP included controlling visitor entry at the three entrances and providing self-test kits.

"Only those who are fully vaccinated and 12 years old or above can enter," she told reporters after visiting exhibition booths at the event on Friday (Feb 25).

Nancy said there was good compliance with SOP by exhibitors and visitors since the event started on Thursday (Feb 24).

"The enforcement is very strict. I observed people queuing up to check in with MySejahtera," she said.

Nancy also said it was timely for Sarawak to host the Citrawarna programme, not only to showcase its cultural diversity but also to help tourism industry players affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

"The activities and performances on show in this event reflect what Sarawak is.

"At the same time, we have brought in participants from other states like Perak, Sabah and Johor to take part in the fusion food exhibition.

"So, we are highlighting Malaysia's rich diversity while boosting the local economy," she said.

The activities lined up for the four-day programme include a food bazaar offering free food and drinks at Padang Merdeka, a craft festival along Jalan Main Bazaar, and cultural and musical performances at the Waterfront.
