A MYSTERY sign reading 'I am sorry my lov' has been strung across a bridge - sparking a local hunt for the unknown writer.

       The banner was spotted by one eagle-eyed local as they passed by the railings over the A64 in Leeds.

       The words 'I am sorry my lov' are painted in black ink on wallpaper - and appear to be a attached using string.

       The mystery person behind the sign has not yet revealed themselves - with locals revelling in the dramatic plea for forgiveness on Facebook.

       Many tagged their spouses, jokingly questioning what they had done to merit such a public apology.

       Jessica O'Rourke wrote: "They say love is dead."

       Rebekah Connell added: "I want to know who wants to apologise, what for and if the person will forgive them."

       Others asked after the welfare of the writer.

       It comes just weeks after a mysterious banner reading "I'm sorry Tom, please forgive me" appeared on a major roundabout.

       It sat on the Rayleigh Weir junction over the A12 in Essex.

       Photos of the sign were shared widely on Facebook, with hundreds of people guessing who Tom is and what the apology was for.

       The original post on a local gossip page read: "Saw this on the Weir roundabout.

       "Who is Tom? And what has she done?"

       One person responded: "I'm invested. Who is Tom? What has this person done to him? Will we ever track Tom?"

       Another wrote: "No idea what it is for but I'm soooooooo curious lol!"
