JOHOR BARU: A 56-year-old man was detained for transporting about 30,000 litres of diesel without a permit.
General Operations Force (GOF) Battalion 5 commanding officer Supt Dimin Awang said the suspect was arrested along Batu 18, Jalan Sungai Tiram, near Ulu Tiram here, around 4.30am on Tuesday (May 17).
“The suspect was transporting subsidised diesel worth around RM64,500 in a tanker lorry.
“When questioned, the man could not produce any documents that allowed him to possess, keep and transport the controlled item, which led to his arrest.
“We believe he is part of a syndicate which supplies diesel illegally to customers in Johor Baru area,” he said, adding the case would be investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
Supt Dimin said the suspect and seized diesel and lorry had been handed over to the state Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry for further action.
