YOKOHAMA -- Two female passengers were injured after a woman allegedly attacked them with what appeared to be a hammer on a train running in this east Japan city on Dec. 21, police said.
Kanagawa Prefectural Police's Izumi Police Station is searching for the assailant, who was described as being aged around her 60s and being about 150 centimeters tall.
The incident took place at around 2:10 p.m. on a six-car train on the Yokohama Municipal Subway Blue Line bound for Shonandai Station, as it was running in Yokohama's Izumi Ward. The suspect allegedly hit a 71-year-old woman and 18-year-old high school girl in the head. Both victims sustained minor injuries.
The assailant, who was said to be wearing black pants and have black hair, fled into another carriage after the attack.
The incident came to light after one of the victims reported it to a police officer upon getting off at Nakada Station, saying she had been hit with a hammer.
