KUWAIT CITY, May 19: The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) is preparing to enforce Administrative Decision No. 535/2015, which prohibits working in open areas from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm during the months of June to August, reports Al-Jarida daily quoting sources. Sources explained this decision aims to protect workers from the Sun’s intense rays during summer and to regulate work without causing disruptions to ongoing projects. Sources warned that PAM will not tolerate violations of this decision, as field inspection teams from the National Center for Occupational Health Administration will monitor compliance over a three-month period.

These teams will conduct campaigns on work sites to identify violations and take legal action against business owners. Penalties and fines, as outlined in the Private Sector Labor Law, will be imposed on businesses that violate this decision. Fines range from KD100 to KD200 per worker affected by the violation, and the company’s file could be blocked until the violation is rectified, sources stated. Sources pointed out that working in open areas during summer is challenging due to the harsh climatic conditions in the country. The implementation of this decision has been widely accepted and supported by companies across various sectors, as it considers public interest and aligns with Kuwait’s commitment to international labor standards. By implementing this decision, business owners demonstrate their commitment to the health and safety of their workers, sources added
