JOHOR BARU: Ten people will be summoned by the police to give their statements over a viral video where a fleet of supercars were seen stopping at KM34 of the North-South Expressway near Sedenak.

       Johor police chief Comm Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said police have identified the registration numbers of the cars involved based on closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage at the highway.

       "They will be giving their statements by this evening (March 22). We will investigate the matter further based on three main angles. This includes reckless driving and for blocking the road.

       "The female driver in the four-wheel-drive vehicle had also made a police report, claiming that she was hit. We will investigate this as well," he said, adding that the woman has received treatment from the hospital.

       He said this in a press conference at the Johor police headquarters here on Tuesday (March 22).

       Comm Kamarul said that the case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act for driving recklessly and Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.

       "We would like to advise road users to drive carefully and prudently. The number of cars on the road are expected to swell after the border reopens and it is important that everyone prioritise safety," he added.

       On Monday (March 21), Kulai OCPD Supt Tok Beng Yeow said the driver of the 4WD vehicle, which was seen in the viral video tailing a convoy of supercars before colliding with one, has been arrested at about 1am on Monday (March 21) at the Kulai police headquarters.

       “The suspect had surrendered herself to the police and was arrested for further investigation.

       “She will be remanded for three days starting from Monday (March 21) until Wednesday (March 23),” he said in a statement here on Monday (March 21).

       Earlier, a video showing a fleet of supercars stopping at KM34 of the North-South Expressway near Sedenak went viral over social media.

       There was also another 20-second video showing the four-wheel-drive tailing the supercars before the incident.

       In a statement on Monday (March 20), Supt Tok said initial investigations revealed the incident occurred at about 6.10pm on March 18.

       It involved a 4x4 Ford Ranger which crashed into a Lamborghini, he said.

       "The Ford driver had tried to cut off the Lamborghini in a zig-zag pattern.

       "The driver of the Lamborghini tried to evade by going to the left side of the road but was run into.

       "This led to a scuffle between the two drivers before the whole convoy of luxury vehicles decided to stop in the middle of the road," he said.
