PETALING JAYA: Travel disruptions along the Kelana Jaya LRT line on Tuesday (May 24) morning were due to problems with the power supply at the traction power substations of the Taman Jaya and Universiti stations, says Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd.

It said the power supply was cut at 8.36am, causing the train moving from the Taman Jaya station towards Putra Heights to stop temporarily.

"Preliminary investigations found that the incident occurred after the circuit breaker broke, causing the power supply to be cut and stalling the train," it said, adding that the power supply was restored at 8.48am.

Rapid Rail also apologised for the inconvenience caused especially for those commuting to their workplace.

"We will continue to increase checks and maintenance works on our assets to ensure we can give our customers the best service possible," it said in a statement.

This was the third time in May that travel disruptions had occurred along the Kelana Jaya LRT line following two other breakdowns during peak hours earlier this month.

On May 10, a brake fault on a train at the Taman Jaya LRT station caused disruption along the LRT Kelana Jaya Line.

Approximately 12,000 passengers were affected after the train's brake hydraulic system leaked and automatically activated the brakes to prevent it from moving.

On May 20, a train carriage broke down at the KL Sentral LRT station during peak hours, which disrupted travels for some 22,100 users.
