AMPANG: Police in Ampang Jaya are prepared to face any eventuality following the release of water from the Klang Gates Dam in Hulu Klang after water levels surpassed a dangerous level.
As of early Sunday (Dec 19) morning, approximately 25% of the total volume of water at the dam has been released in stages.
Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said five officers and 32 personnel from police stations in Melawati, Hulu Klang, Ampang and Ampang Jaya police headquarters are ready to be deployed.
"All officers and personnel will be involved to face any eventuality, especially in Taman Melawati and the nearby areas," he said when contacted on Sunday.
The first release of water from the dam occurred at 11.50pm on Saturday (Dec 18).
"I urge the public not to panic as releasing the water from the dam is being done based on proper procedures," he added.
ACP Mohamad Farouk said all officers and personnel will be deployed at any time if any untoward incident occurs especially within Ampang Jaya.
The safety of the public is our priority," he said.
