TEMERLOH: The Pakaian Beragam Janda Temerloh (Temerloh Widows Costume Competition) scheduled to take place at Taman Tasik Chatin, Mentakab, on Sunday (April 21), has been cancelled.

       Sinar Harian reported that the organiser's representative, known as Uncle John, said the event was cancelled based on recommendations by authorities and Temerloh MP Salamiah Mohd.

       According to him, the event was an interlude activity in conjunction with the Raya feast that would be held on the day in question.

       "It was just a fun event we planned and shared to our small group. I didn't expect the poster of the competition to be shared on social media and was surprised when many people were interested in participating in this competition," he said to Sinar Harian when contacted on Wednesday (April 17).

       He also hoped that the issue would not last long and become impoverished after the competition was cancelled.

       "I apologise for the mistakes and errors made in this matter.

       "Of course, I understand that this issue is going to be a sensitive matter and can trigger feelings of sensitivity among the Muslim community in Temerloh and in Pahang in general.
