NAGOYA -- A giant Christmas tree at the entrance of JR Nagoya Station's Gate Tower, standing some 12 meters tall, is dazzling the area as the festive season nears.
The colorful lights adorning the white Christmas tree, which looks as if it is frosted with snow, were turned on at 5 p.m. on Nov. 10, delighting spectators who let out cheers and took photos and videos on their smartphones.
The theme of the display is the "White Beginning," with a subtitle that roughly translates to "a completely new start coloring the future." Hopes for overcoming the coronavirus pandemic and for a new start were infused into the theme. The lights shine brighter every 15 minutes in time with music to bring additional excitement to the Christmas mood. The tree will be on display up until Dec. 25.
