KUALA LUMPUR: The Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (LHDN) has extended the tax payment deadlines for taxpayers and employers affected by the recent floods.

The deadline for the payment of estimated tax payable (CP204) for December 2021 has been extended to Jan 31, 2022.

According to the board, the instalment payment for investigation, audit and civil legal fees for January has been deferred to February 2022.

“The deadline for payment of schedular tax deductions (PCB) or CP38 by employees for the remuneration month of December 2021 has also been extended to Jan 31, 2022.

“The payment of the remaining tax could be deferred until a period requested by the taxpayer,” LHDN said in a statement.

Taxpayers and affected employers need to submit their deferment of tax payment application via email and the feedback form on LHDN’s portal.

Meanwhile, the government is considering giving special leave to civil servants involved in voluntary post-flood cleaning work, said Chief Secretary to the government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali.

He said the special leave is to enable more civil servants to assist in the clean-up operations following the floods, especially in the badly affected areas that require more manpower for the task.

“Many (civil servants) wish to be volunteers to help the flood victims but in some cases, they don’t have a suitable channel to do so, besides being subject to regulations such as not being allowed to go out during office hours,” he told Bernama.

He said this after handing out Bantuan Wang Ihsan (compassionate aid) to 132 household heads affected by the calamity at the flood relief centre (PPS) in SMK Sri Tualang in Termeloh, Pahang, yesterday.

Also present were Pahang police chief Datuk Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf and state tourism, culture, environment, plantations and commodities chairman Mohd Sharkar Shamsuddin.

Mohd Zuki said the special leave would be the same as that announced by Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa yesterday on the unrecorded leave given to the ministry’s and its agencies’ workers who became volunteers under the ‘Assist Until Completion’ programme organised by the ministry.
