Residents of seaside town Goring-by-Sea, West Sussex, have claimed tourists are being driven away due to loud youngsters.

Locals have spoken up about the negative impact the rowdy kids are having on their businesses as well as on the tourism in the area.

A beach fitness coach in Goring said that a camp in the area is hindering him earning a living.

He said: “It’s not the adults who are the problem, it’s the kids.”

The coach claimed that the kids go along the beachfront checking the padlocks on the beach huts and he is worried about protecting his equipment.

This behaviour has “put people off” coming to Goring, he told The Sun, as it makes people “uncomfortable”.

“Even dog walkers are afraid to walk their pets along the seafront,” he added.

While Goring as a community is “lovely”, there is a “lot of fear” and worry at the moment.

He added: “There may not have been any trouble, but there is that worry.”

Coffee seller Dan Horn has also been affected by the traveller site. He said he has been forced to give up the spot where he sells his coffee because the caravans are parked over it.

He said: "I have a council-approved coffee concession which I cannot open and other events on the seafront have been cancelled.”

Mr Horn claimed that people are not coming down to the beach while the rowdy children are there.

He added: "The council should have moved them to another pitch. It's costing us money every day they are here.”

West Sussex County Council said that 20 caravans have been served with notices telling them to move.

Goring is on the western edge of Worthing and is about two miles west of the town centre. The beach attracts tourists in the summer who swim, sail, and jet-ski in the water.

Earlier this year, Goring was ranked one of the top up-and-coming places in Worthing by Sussex World, which used census data to see what proportion of deprived households fell the most between 2011 and 2021.
