A HOMELESS man living in a tent was reportedly refused a night in a hotel the community had clubbed together to pay for.
Rough sleeper Paul had pitched his tent on Wolstanton Marsh in North Staffordshire since last Friday, where he was spotted by sympathetic locals.

Good Samaritans come together to pay for a night in a hotel for Paul
A woman from the town approached him and after hearing his story, launched an appeal on social media to see if anyone could help, according to Stoke Sentinel.
It sparked a massive outpouring of support for Paul and Good Samaritans came together to book him a bed for the night at a local unnamed hotel.
The poignant post read: "I am here right now with Paul the guy from the red tent on the marsh - he is such a pleasure to talk to and my heart breaks.
"I’ve rang around and everywhere is full - the woman from the rough sleeper team has said he will get one cup of coffee and a welfare check at 6am each morning."
"What the hell is that all about? Is there anything we can all do tonight? What if we get this chap a hotel?
"To top it off three teenage lads have kicked his tent! Shame on them!"

Residents rallied round to help the "gentle chap who has fell on hard times", with some offering clothing, food, and drink.
The woman's appeal resulted in another lady coming forward to say a room for Paul had been paid for so he had somewhere "warm and dry to stay for the night."
But it seems the community spirit didn't influence the hotel - as the women later explained he had been turned away from the establishment for not having ID.
"So so sorry to all who have helped. Paul is unfortunately back in his tent on the marsh," she wrote in an update.
"We had taken him to the hotel but they wouldn’t let him stay because he has no ID.
"The lady who paid for the hotel also came to meet us - they refused him. The system failed him.
"Please keep teenagers away from this poor guy everyone deserves a chance, they just need a hand sometimes."
The upsetting outcome angered locals who tried to help Paul, as they demanded the guest house be "named and shamed".
It is not known which hotel turned him away.
