JOHOR BARU: PKR lawmaker Hassan Abdul Karim has warned his Pakatan Harapan allies and his own party that having a "big tent" formula would be disastrous in the Johor state election.

       The Pasir Gudang MP also questioned Pakatan's decision to invite new parties such as Muda, Parti Warisan Sabah and Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) to join them for the state election.

       "Party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim should know our members have an issue with the 'big tent' idea.

       "If we are still being pushed, then our members are ready to move solo not only in the state election but also in the upcoming GE15," he said in a statement here.

       Hassan added that it was no longer a secret that PKR members and supporters demanded the use of the party logo by Pakatan in the state election, adding that Umno and Barisan Nasional can be defeated in the state election with the right strategy.

       On Monday, the Pakatan presidential council said it was determined to drive the entire strength of the Opposition and civil society in efforts to win the state election.

       Pakatan’s idea of having a bigger opposition tent for the Johor state election is the same old trick they have used in the 14th General Election (GE14), says Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

       The Umno vice-president said that Pakatan’s call to cooperate with all opposition in the Johor polls was the same approach they used in GE14.

       "The effect is that when they win, we are left with a rojak government," he tweeted on Tuesday (Jan 25).
