JOHOR BARU: Pakatan Harapan’s idea of having a bigger opposition tent for the Johor polls reeks of the “same old trick” used in the 14th General Election which led to the country’s political problems, says a top Umno leader.
Party vice-president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin (pic) said Pakatan’s aim to cooperate with the entire opposition in the coming Johor state election tapped on the same approach engineered in GE14.
“The effect is that if they win, we will be left with a rojak government, a quarter government, a non- functional government, a failed government and a non-existent government with frequent changes of prime minister and mentri besar,” he tweeted on Tuesday.
PKR’s Hassan Abdul Karim warned his Pakatan allies and his own party that having a “big tent” would be disastrous in the Johor state election. The Pasir Gudang MP questioned Pakatan’s decision to invite new parties such as Muda, Parti Warisan Sabah and Parti Pejuang Tanah Air to join forces for the state election.
“Party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim should know our members’ stand on the ‘big tent’ issue raised by state DAP chairman Liew Chin Tong and taken up by Parti Amanah Negara president Mohamad Sabu.
“If we are still pushed, then our members are ready to move solo not only in the state election but also in the upcoming GE15,” he said in a statement here.
