A MAN grabbed a female jogger and pushed her into a canal in a "terrifying" assault - as police launch a manhunt for the attacker.

The woman, 42, was on a run on the Rochdale Canal footpath shortly before 6pm on Tuesday when she was grabbed by a male passer-by.

The man struggled with the victim before shoving her into water and running away towards nearby Gorrels Way.

She was not injured in the attack between Gorrels Way and the bridge overpass at Bow Street.

But the "terrifying" experience left her feeling "violated and scared," police said.

Her attacker wore grey jogging bottoms, a Parka jacket and dark-coloured trainers.

He was described as white, in his 20s and around 5ft 9ins tall.

No arrests have been made so far - as cops stress they will "absolutely not tolerate this behaviour".
