JOHOR BARU: PKR candidate for the Larkin seat in the upcoming Johor polls has tested positive for Covid-19.
In a statement on Facebook, Dr Zamil Najwah Arbain said he found out after taking a routine Covid-19 RTK test.
"With a heavy heart, I confirmed that I have tested positive for Covid-19 after taking an RTK test.
"It has been my habit to conduct daily self-test before any programmes for the safety of everyone.
"I apologise for having to cancel all the programmes that have been arranged," he said on Thursday (Feb 17).
Dr Zamil also urged those who had met him physically in the past few days to also take a Covid-19 test.
"I will be going through quarantine as per the health protocol outlined by the Health Ministry.
"Let's pray that everyone with Covid-19 will recover soon and that health frontliners are given the strength to continue shouldering the burden of managing the pandemic.
"I am sorry for the inconvenience caused," he said.
On Tuesday (Feb 15), PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced a total of 13 candidates, including Dr Zamil, in a series of events in Johor Baru and Batu Pahat.
