PETALING JAYA: Mandatory quarantine for the close contacts of Covid-19 cases will no longer be necessary from Friday (April 22).

In a Twitter post on Thursday (April 21), the Health Ministry announced the new procedures would no longer distinguish between vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals.

It explained that close contacts with Covid-19 symptoms were encouraged to quarantine and perform a Rapid Test Kit-Antigen (RTK-Ag) self-test from the time they developed symptoms.

The Ministry added that this will be followed by another test on the third day.

“If the RTK-Ag self-test result is negative and symptoms have improved, you may end quarantine but practise preventive measures," said the Ministry.

"Those who are asymptomatic can skip the quarantine and Covid-19 tests but should still practise preventive measures for at least five days after exposure,” it added.

The preventive measures stated in the post are to always wear a face mask when leaving home, avoid crowded places, ensure good ventilation, avoid visiting high-risk groups, and travel for essential needs only.
