KOTA KINABALU: A fire that broke out at the Telipok settlement scheme along Jalan Tuaran here on Thursday (Oct 7) left 17 families homeless.

       A Sabah Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said a distress call was received at 1.19pm, with teams sent from the Lintas fire station here as well as from Tuaran district station.

       The fire razed two blocks of houses comprising 16 wooden units, but no casualties were reported.

       "A total of 128 individuals from 17 families were affected, where the blaze gutted 90% of the structures," the spokesman said, adding that the cause of the fire is still being determined.
