A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said: “We’re in attendance at a single story commercial building in the Upper Wortley area (LS12).
“We took the call at 10.38- we have 6 crews and an aerial appliance there (Leeds x2, Hunslet, Moortown, Stanningley and Morley – the aerial appliance is from Bradford).
Residents have taken to Twitter to express their panic after seeing the fire.
Andy Durkin tweeted: "@leedslivenews big fire over towards LS12 #Leeds @WLDispatch @LeedsNews."
Josh Lawlor tweeted: "Anyone know what all the smoke is in the headingly area of Leeds - looks like a big fire? #Leeds #headingly #fire."
@steakandsidney also tweeted a video of the fire on Twitter.
They wrote: "Massive fire on Upper #Wortley Road #Leeds near #BarrasGarth, hope everyone's safe."
John R tweeted his worry about the ongoing situation.
He tweeted: "I hope everyone is ok. Armley in #leeds"
Pulse 1 News tweeted: "Fire fighters are battling a blaze in Wortley in #Leeds this morning. Smoke can be seen across the city.
"Six crews are there after being called out just after 10:30.
"Police are also at the scene, and there are no reports of any injuries."
Kathryn tweeted: Big fire outside of Leeds, maybe at Wortley or nearby.
"Huge plume of smoke.
"Huge smoke cloud and it is getting worse."
