KUALA LUMPUR: A woman was driving a car stabbed in her thigh and had her handbag stolen by a snatch thief in Taman Greenwood, Gombak here.

Gombak OCPD Asst Comm Zainal Mohamed Mohamed said they were alerted about the incident at 4.24pm on Saturday (Aug 14) from a member of the public.

"The woman suffered a stab wound on her right thigh," he said in a statement on Sunday (Aug 15).

He said investigations revealed the woman was driving her brother's car alone.

"She claimed she was in her car when a man opened her car door and tried to snatch her bag.

"She struggled with the suspect before he stabbed her and fled with her handbag," he said, adding that the victim could not give a proper description of the suspect and the incident because she was injured and traumatised.

"She was rushed to Hospital Selayang and is in stable condition.

"We have initiated investigations under Section 394 of the Penal Code for causing hurt during a robbery," he said, adding urging anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward to assist police investigations.

Those with information can contact Insp Nur Azrul Amirul Mustafa at 03-6126 2222 or contact the Selangor police hotline at 03-2052 9999.
