A 6-year-old-boy was wounded with a gunshot to the thigh during a family gathering over the Labor Day weekend, according to Chicago police.

       The shooting took place at 5:26 p.m. Sunday in the 9100 block of South Racine Avenue on the South Side. The young boy was inside a residence when he heard a loud noise and noticed he’d been shot, police said.

       One of the boy’s relatives took him to the intersection of 87th and Aberdeen streets, where emergency responders met them and transported the boy to Comer Children’s Hospital. The boy was listed in good condition Monday, police said.

       No offenders were in custody as of Monday, police said. Area 1 detectives were investigating the incident.
