KOTA KINABALU: Perikatan Nasional (PN) has rejected Sabah-based Liberal Democratic Party's (LDP) application to join the coalition, says chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
He said that so far, there were no other party applications that were brought forward to him.
"At PN level after consulting with state level, Hajiji as well as the other partners here, we decided not to approve - and reject LDP’s application," he added.
Muhyiddin said this after a meeting with Sabah Bersatu leaders on Saturday (Oct 2).
Earlier this year, LDP, led by president Datuk Chin Su Phin said the party decided to apply to join PN after seeing the determination of Muhyiddin, then Prime Minister, in handling the Covid-19 situation.
LDP was formerly a Barisan Nasional component party, but left the pact after the 14th general elections in 2018.
Muhyiddin said any party applications to join the pact, will be evaluated on how the party can value add or improve PN.
