TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Japan will aim to carry its momentum into the men's wheelchair basketball quarterfinals at the Tokyo Paralympics following a 67-55 win over Turkey on Monday in its final group-stage game.
After trailing early, Japan made up the deficit in the second quarter before eventually pulling away from Turkey late at Tokyo's Ariake Arena.
Heading into the game, Japan and Turkey were placed third and second in Group A, respectively, with both teams having logged three wins and one loss each.
Both Turkey, which finished fourth at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Paralympics, and Japan, which placed ninth, had secured berths in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
Japan is aiming for its first men's wheelchair basketball medal following wins in the preliminary round against Colombia, South Korea and Canada, as well as a loss to Spain.
