KUALA LUMPUR: Police have crippled a drug distribution ring with the arrest of three men and a woman.
They also seized nearly RM60,000 worth of drugs following two raids here.
City Narcotic Crime Investigation Department (NCID) deputy chief Supt Mohd Shokri Abdullah said they made a move on the syndicate following two weeks of intelligence gathering.
"We conducted the operations at around 9.20pm on Tuesday (Aug 24) and arrested the four suspects, aged between 23 and 30 years old," he said.
Supt Shokri said they arrested the first suspect at a parking lot along Jalan Ritchie, off Jalan Ampang.
"We found 66.3g of methamphetamine and 50 Erimin 5 pills in his sling bag, as well as RM720 cash.
"We interrogated the suspect, leading to the arrest of the three other suspects at a house along Jalan Ritchie, off Jalan Ampang," he said, adding that police also found 954g of methamphetamine, 376g of ganja (marijuana), and 1,000 Erimin 5 pills.
He said they also seized RM300 in cash, adding that the drugs were worth at least RM 57,630.
"Investigations revealed the premises raided were being used as a drug storage facility and were rented by one of the suspects for about RM2,800 a month.
"All of the suspects tested positive for methamphetamine and have prior criminal records for drug and crime offences," he said, adding that all the suspects have been remanded for seven days.
He also said that the syndicate had been actively distributing drugs around the Klang Valley area for more than three months.
