The Prime Minister announced on Monday that from Stage 4 of his roadmap out of lockdown, most Covid rules would be ditched. Next week Mr Johnson is expected to confirm the move to the next step back to normality will commence from July 19.

       Among the planned changes announced was the scrapping of compulsory face masks in enclosed public places.

       The decision sparked outrage from Labour, who are demanding face coverings continue to be worn for the foreseeable future.

       At the same time, the party has criticised the continuation of Covid self-isolation rules until August 16.

       Blasting Sir Keir, Mr Johnson said he was unclear if Labour was in favour of re-opening or further restricitons.
