In order to secure a deal on medicine supplies heading to Northern Ireland, Mr Sefocvic has admitted the EU is "ready to change" its own legislation for the UK. Ahead of talks, Mr Sefcovic admitted the supply of medicines to Northern Ireland must be protected following Lord Frost's repeated warnings. Mr Sefcovic said: "We are even ready to change our own legislation to find a solution for uninterrupted supply of medicines to Northern Ireland.
He also told Politico: "I’m insisting to hear from David Frost and his team: Do you still have any issues with the way we want to solve the medicines issue?”
The two sides will also discuss issues surrounding customs checks, sanitary and phytosanitary checks and the role of the European Court of Justice.
It is thought talks on the three issues may roll into next year, but an agreement on medicines must be agreed before the end of the year, when a crucial grace period expires.
