1. EU chief accuses UK of seeking Brexit clash
Brussels has warned the UK not to “embark on a path of confrontation”, amid tensions over Northern Ireland and post-Brexit fishing rights.

Boris Johnson will on Monday warn it is “one minute to midnight” in the race to avert a climate catastrophe, as he urges world leaders to “get real” about tackling global warming.
The Prime Minister will open the Cop26 climate change summit in Glasgow with a keynote speech calling for a “move from talk and debate and discussion to concerted, real-world action” and urging countries to make tougher plans to slash carbon emissions. Read the full story.
3. Several passengers injured after two trains crash near Salisbury
Two trains crashed in a tunnel in Salisbury on Sunday night, leaving several passengers injured.

4. All NHS Covid testing sites will start closing early from Monday
All NHS Covid testing sites will start closing early from Monday as officials behind the £37 billion scheme claim there is little demand for tests.
NHS Test and Trace has ordered all regional and local test sites across the country to scale back their operating hours, and stop offering a service after 6pm. Read the full story.
5. Man dressed as Joker villain injures 17 in Japan train attack
A young man dressed as comic book villain The Joker stabbed several passengers on a Tokyo commuter train last night, sending terrified people scrambling through windows as he set fire to the carriage.
Eyewitnesses said the 24-year-old suspect, who has not yet been named, was wearing a green shirt, blue jacket and purple coat. Some assumed he was on his way to a Halloween party in a fancy dress costume before he began his knife rampage. Read the full story.
