PORT DICKSON: Three individuals who allegedly stopped traffic to allow a convoy of high-powered motorcycles to pass through a traffic light junction near here on Sunday (Nov 21) surrendered to police on Tuesday (Nov 23).

       Port Dickson OCPD Supt Aidi Sham Mohamed said this brings to five the number of individuals being probed for the offence, which was captured in a 70-second clip that went viral.

       He said the three suspects aged between 27 and 48 came to the district police station around 3.40pm on Tuesday after they received news that police were looking for them.

       All three were lorry drivers.

       "We have detained them and will have their statements recorded," he said in a statement.

       Supt Aidi Sham said police also seized a Kawasaki GTR1400, a Harley Davidson and a Yamaha Tracer 900GT as well as several items including a vest allegedly used during the incident.

       Earlier on Tuesday, police detained two suspects who were allegedly involved in the incident here and in Bandar Springhill.

       Also seized from the duo were a Kawasaki GTR 1400, a Kawasaki Z800 and helmets.

       One of the suspects work as an assistant in a legal firm and the other was a factory supervisor.

       In the clip, several individuals could be seen stopping and directing vehicles at the Sua Betong traffic light junction.

       The suspects had stopped traffic so a convoy of motorcycles could pass through the junction when the light was red.

       The motorcyclists came from the Seremban-Port Dickson Highway and were heading towards Bulatan Sunggala in Telok Kemang.

       Supt Aidi Sham had said traffic can only be stopped or diverted when a police officer is present.

       The case was being probed under Section 21 of the Police Act and Section 79(2) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

       Under Section 21 of the Police Act, offenders could be fined up to RM200 or up to three months' imprisonment, or both, upon conviction.

       Those convicted under Section 79(2) of the Road Transport Act can be fined up to RM300.
