KOTA KINABALU: Police will haul up those involved in a cult movement called “Kumpulan Perjalanan Mimpi Yang Terakhir” (PMYT) led by a woman claiming that World War III (WWIII) will begin in Sabah soon.
Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said such movements were not new to the country, with many similar ones having come and gone over the past decades that were tackled well by the security forces.
“There have always been these types of threats but the police were able to manage and contain the spread of their activities and ideologies,” he said after a handing over of Police Commissioner of Sabah duties here, yesterday.
He said the main persons behind PMYT who told their followers to prepare for doomsday or World War III have been identified. Investigations are ongoing to arrest them.
“Hauling them up will be part of our plan. We need to work with other agencies including Islamic religious bodies for advice before we can go further into our probe on this matter,” Acryl Sani said.
The leader has been identified as one “Sittah Annur’’ who claims that WWIII would spark from Sabah, before being triggered in other states. It is claimed that the group has over 3, 000 active members in the country.
Asked whether any active members of PMYT have been detected in Sabah, Sabah outgoing police commissioner Datuk Hazani Ghazali said none were reported to date.
It is claimed that the group has over 3, 000 active members in the country who are linked through WhatsApp and Instagram, he said.
To another question on the seriousness of the threat this movement is posing, Acryl Sani said the situation is under control.
