KUALA LUMPUR: A couple and their two children who died during a horrific car accident here were expecting a third child.
Tragedy struck yesterday morning after a road accident near Wisma Tani along the Sultan Iskandar Highway (Mahameru Highway) killed Milan Damani Paresh, 32, his wife Thinisha Chanderasegaran and their two young sons (aged three and four).
At the Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz Hospital, the mood was sombre with friends and family members consoling one another.
Many were too distraught when approached.
One family friend, who wished to be unnamed, said Milan was a good family man.
“It’s just so sad. He and the wife had two kids and a third was on the way.
“He just started his own business around two to three years ago,” he said before rushing over to console other friends and family members.
City Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Asst Comm Sarifudin Mohd Salleh said yesterday that the accident occurred at around 11.20am.
“Investigations showed that a Toyota Hilux heading towards Jalan Tun Razak crashed at a turning, hitting a tree that was at the road divider.
“The vehicle then spun onto the opposite lane, hitting a Hyundai Starex MPV.
“The resulting crash killed a family of four. The driver of the Hilux survived and was brought to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for treatment,” he said.
It is learnt that the police will conduct a urine test on the Hilux driver.
He will be detained after his injuries have been treated.
