PETALING JAYA: The Putra Heights LRT station will start dispensing Covid-19 vaccines for those working in the land transport industry tomorrow.

It is the first vaccination centre to be set up in a train station.

During a site visit yesterday, Prasarana Malaysia Bhd staff could be seen setting up the area to dispense the first dose for 600 recipients daily over the next five days.

The setting up of the centre is chiefly intended for those in the transport sector, though it can also accommodate a limited number of walk-ins comprising senior citizens who have yet to register under the MySejahtera app.

Prasarana said the company was happy to be part of the national vaccination programme by offering its facility to speed up the process.

“After Putra Heights, our next PPV will be at our bus depot in Cheras Selatan,” it said in a statement.

At least 4,000 manhours and 10 days were required for Prasarana to set up the centre, starting from preparations for site visits by the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force and Transport Ministry until the dry run yesterday.

Over 6,000 land transport workers are expected to receive their vaccination there, with priority given to frontliners such as bus captains, bus operations workers, Prasarana auxiliary police, station officers, transit officers, as well as those from rail engineering and operations.
