PETALING JAYA: Ranhill Utilities Bhd has secured a 31.95 million baht (RM4mil) job to upgrade a wastewater treatment plant in Amata City Industrial Estate Phase 4 (P4) in Rayong, Thailand.

In its filing with Bursa Malaysia, the company said its indirectly-owned subsidiary AnuRAK Water Treatment Facilities Co Ltd yesterday accepted the letter of award from Amata Water Co Ltd to upgrade to upgrade the capacity of the wastewater treatment plant to 20 million litres per day from 15 million litres per day.

“This contract is for the upgrading of the existing wastewater treatment plant, developed under the build-operate-transfer concept for a 30-year concession period, starting from Nov 1, 2013, until Oct 31, 2043,” Ranhill said.

“The wastewater tariff under the contract is 9.35 baht (RM1.17) per cubic metre with a minimum offtake level of 13,000 per cubic metre per day,” it added.

Ranhill said the completion period for the contract was stipulated to be six months, commencing from Dec 24, 2021, to June 24, 2022.

“The Amata P4 upgrading project meets our targeted growth plan and enhances our presence and augurs well with our objective of expanding into long term regulated asset business in Thailand,” the company said.

“Apart from contributing to Ranhill’s growth model in the region, the award of this upgrading project also reflects the quality of services and the dedicated technological solutions for water and wastewater that we can draw on to assist countries in this region to meet their long term environmental and industrial challenges,” it noted, adding the industries would also be able to enjoy long-term economic benefits of treated potable water supply and waste water treatment.

Ranhill said the contract was expected to contribute positively to the revenue and earnings of the group when the contract becomes fully operational in June 2022. The investment is expected to yield a project internal rate of return of 15.16% and equity internal rate of return of 18.28% at the group level.
