KOTA KINABALU: Two people escaped unhurt when a tree fell on the vehicle they were in on Monday (May 9) evening.
The man and a woman in their 40s were in the same vehicle when the incident happened at the Bandaran Berjaya business district here at around 6pm.
The Kota Kinabalu Fire Station Operations officer in charge at that time, Zainudin Saidi, said that the tree had also brought down electrical wiring, as there were cables nearby.
“Luckily, the fall did not cause any injuries to the people in the car it hit,” he said when contacted on Tuesday (May 10).
He said the duo managed to get out of their damaged car after the incident.
State Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Misran Bisara said a team was sent to respond after they received a call about the incident at 6.08pm.
“Firemen had to carefully cut the tree while removing the cables that got tangled around it,” he said.
He said the operation ended at 6.36pm.
