Royal author Duncan Larcombe said there is "tremendous pressure" on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to "make a success" after quitting royal duties and moving to America. Mr Larcombe, who penned a book on Harry, said the couple will have to "deliver" on the lucrative deals they have signed with Netflix and Amazon.

The former royal editor added that failing would be the "ultimate humiliation" for Meghan and Harry.

Mr Larcombe told Closer magazine: “With these deals, there’s tremendous pressure on Harry and Meghan to deliver and make a success of their life in America.

“They’ve caused such an uproar – for both the Royal Family and in the media – that they don’t really have the option of failing.

"It would be the ultimate humiliation.

"If Netflix aren’t happy and the production doesn’t get the audiences that they’re expecting, they won’t give them another contract.

       “They’ve entered a commercial world and it’s cut-throat.”

The couple have been on parental leave following the birth of Lilibet Diana but they are expected to return to work soon.

Last month, royal author Omid Scobie claimed Meghan and Harry are in the "thrive" chapter and entering a new "era of visibility".

They shared a statement on their Archewell website in August expressing their heartbreak over the state of the "exceptionally fragile" world.

The pair said they had been left "speechless" by the situation in Afghanistan in the lengthy message, which also addressed the Covid pandemic.

Harry and Meghan hit out at the Royal Family in their controversial Oprah Winfrey interview in March.
