KUANTAN: A Selangor assemblyman was among those detained for allegedly trespassing into a forest reserve in Lipis.
The Pahang Forestry Department said 29 people from Selangor and Kuala Lumpur were detained at 8am yesterday in Kampung Rakoh in Pos Lenjang, Sungai Koyan.
“One of them is the Teratai assemblyman whose address is in Bandar Mahkota Cheras, Selangor.
“Eleven four-wheel drive vehicles were also seized,” the department said in a statement.
It said initial investigations showed that the group had entered the Ulu Jelai forest reserve at 11am on Saturday without permission.
They were said to be sending food aid to the Orang Asli residents of Pos Lenjang.
“All the suspects have been taken to the Sungai Koyan police station for screening,” the department said.
