PETALING JAYA: Thirty years after graduating with a degree in civil engineering, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has paid tribute to Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).

Dr Wee said he was invited to attend a Hari Raya banquet together with notable leaders who were UTM alumni.

He said UTM remains close to his heart as he began studying there in 1987 and graduated with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering in 1992 and later a PhD in transportation planning in 2002.

"I'm delighted to be able to meet my old friends at this event. I remember studying together, being together through hard and easy times and it is really unforgettable.

"Thank you to my friends for maintaining this close friendship," he said in a Facebook post on Friday (May 13).

Dr Wee also thanked every educator in UTM for carrying out their duties.

Among the notable UTM alumni are Deputy Finance Minister 1 Datuk Shahar Abdullah, Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani, Environment and Water Ministry chief secretary Datuk Seri Dr Zaini Ujang and Works Department director-general Datuk Mohamad Zulkefly Sulaiman.

"I would also like to take this opportunity to wish Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Maaf Zahir dan Batin to everyone in UTM," added Dr Wee
