Leslie Lawrenson, 58, died at his home in Bournemouth on July 2 after claiming “Covid was nothing to be afraid of” and refused to get vaccinated because they were too “experimental”.

       Speaking as a guest on LBC’s Swarbrick on Sunday, Mr Lawrenson’s stepdaughter, Carla Hodges, who is vaccinated, said: “It has been really tough. Since Thursday people are trolling his Facebook account. There is just more comments, more hate and Mum is getting messages and notifications and tagged in stuff.

       "They are calling him a killer, they are calling the family killers and it's just not the truth. He caught Covid through no fault of his own, and unfortunately he did have those views on the vaccine and he has paid the full price.

       "I don't know what people want from us or from him now. I don't understand why we need to have these comments - just please leave us alone.

       “We're trying to do the right thing now, promote people to take the vaccine, just leave us to grieve, if you don't agree his views just move on.”

       Prior to his death, Mr Lawrenson said in videos posted to Facebook that his Covid symptoms were “no worse than a cold” and he would “rather the antibodies than the jabs”.

       His partner, Amanda Mitchell, 56, also contracted Covid and was admitted to hospital. She admitted she was “very lucky” to survive the virus as she was not vaccinated either.

       She revealed that her partner had become influenced by content he read on social media. She said: “He was intelligent so I'd hope he would make the right choices, this one he made a total misjudgement on it, definitely.”
