PETALING JAYA: TMC Life Sciences Bhd expects a continued recovery in the healthcare sector and is cautiously optimistic of its mid to long-term growth despite the predicted wave of Omicron infections in Malaysia.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the healthcare group said its new facilities at Thomson Hospital Kota Damansara is targeted to begin operations in the third quarter of financial year ending June 30, 2022, which would add significant capacity to the hospital.
TMC Life operates its flagship hospital, Thomson Hospital Kota Damansara, and has a Thomson Iskandar project in Johor.
It also has six fertility centres under TMC Fertility in the country, as well as the Thomson TCM (traditional Chinese medicine) centre in Puchong and a TMC Care pharmacy unit.
For its second quarter ended Dec 31, 2021, TMC Life saw its net profit jumped 27.8% year-on-year to RM6.9mil while revenue rose 21% to RM59.2mil, mainly due to an increase in hospital and fertility revenue.
For the first six months of FY22, TMC Life posted a 16.9% drop year-on-year in net profit to RM10.95mil while revenue rose 12% to RM111.9mil.
