Sir Keir Starmer will later today take the keys to Number 10, after trouncing Rishi Sunak's Conservative Party at the General Election. The Tories, who have seen their vote share sliced to a mere 20 percent, are going to end up with less than 126 seats - a record-breaking defeat.
The outgoing PM said it had been a “difficult night” and apologised to Conservative candidates who had been defeated, speaking in his own Richmond and Northallerton constituency.

Don't miss... King Charles set to welcome new Prime Minister Keir Starmer this morning
Rishi Sunak
The soon to be ex-PM, managed to keep his seat in parliament, even if he's no longer going to be living in Downing Street.
Mr Sunak, despite seeing his vote share fall by a sizeable 15.8 percent, held on with a majority of more than 12,000.
Speaking after the count, he said: "The Labour Party has won this General Election, and I’ve called Sir Keir Starmer to congratulate him on his victory. Today, power will change hands in a peaceful and orderly manner, with goodwill on all sides. That is something that should give us all confidence in our country’s stability and future.
"The British people have delivered a sobering verdict tonight, there is much to learn… and I take responsibility for the loss. To the many good, hard-working Conservative candidates who lost tonight, despite their tireless efforts, their local records and delivery, and their dedication to their communities. I am sorry."

Kemi Badenoch won the newly formed North West Essex constituency by a majority of 2610 and said of her party's performance: "As a party the Conservatives must come back together, look deep in our political souls, and ask some uncomfortable questions," she said.
The outgoing Business Secretary is seen as a frontrunner among right-leaning factions to take over the party and has left the door open to a tilt at the top job by saying “we will talk about leadership things after an election”.
Ms Badenoch previously rejected calls for Reform UK leader Nigel Farage to be welcomed into the Tory fold.
James Cleverly
James Cleverly has been re-elected as the MP for Braintree despite seeing his vote share decline by nearly 32 percent. Mr Cleverly, who will most likely hand over as Home Secretary to Yvette Cooper, was in danger of losing his seat to Labour, as Reform UK cut into his vote.
In the end, Richard Thomson from Reform took 11,346 votes - a stunning 23.1 percent for the insurgent party. Labour finished second on 13,744.
Mr Cleverly is also seen as a possible future leader of the party, although reports have suggested he may not run for the top job due to his wife's health.
Failing to rule a move for the leadership, he told Sky News: “What might happen in the future I’ll leave that for the near future.”
Jeremy Hunt

With echoes of 1997, many politicos across the country were looking for a 'Portillo moment' where a major Tory MP lost their seat against the odds.
Although a staggering number of cabinet ministers were booted out by their constituents, several commentators felt that Jeremy Hunt could be the most devastating defeat of all.
As it happened, the Chancellor held on to his seat, the newly formed Godalming and Ash, by a nail-biting 891 over the Lib Dem candidate.
His narrow escape means he's not the first Chancellor to lose their seat whilst still occupying Number 11.

Suella Braverman

Suella Braverman held on to Fareham and Waterlooville, but lost more than 26 percent of her vote share.
The Tory firebrand and arch-critic of Rishi Sunak said following her win: "I want to briefly address the results around the country, and there’s only one thing I can say... sorry. I’m sorry,"
"The Great British people voted for us over 14 years and we did not keep our promises... we acted like we were entitled to your votes," she added.
Ms Braverman declared two days before election day that the fight for a Conservative electoral victory is over.
Writing in The Telegraph, she instead referred to a “fight for the soul” of the party.
Richard Holden

One of the tightest results of the night saw Tory chairman Richard Holden, who was controversially parachuted into Basildon and Billericay, win his seat by just 20 votes.
Mr Holden secured 12,905 votes in Basildon and Billericay to Labour's 12,885.
His result came after several recounts and was delayed by three hours. The former MP for North West Durham was dropped into the Essex stronghold after his seat was abolished following boundary changes.
Oliver Dowden
Oliver Dowden, who served as Rishi Sunak's Deputy Prime Minister, won his Hertsmere seat by nearly 8000 over the Labour candidate Josh Tapper.
He won 21,451 votes, while Reform UK’s Darren Selkus came in third with 6,584 votes. That was followed by the Liberal Democrats’ Emma Matanle who garnered 3,710, as John Humphries from the Green Party took 2,267.
Prior to the vote, the Reform candidate said: "People are voting for Labour because they’re not the Conservatives and everything’s going to change for the better.
