MELAKA: A lawyer claimed trial to two counts of criminal breach of trust (CBT) involving about RM1.3mil of his clients' money.
The accused, Kingsley Wamback, 40, pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court judge Maziah Joary Mohd Tajudin on Friday (Aug 13).
According to the charge sheet, the accused was alleged to have committed CBT involving an amount of RM945,950 entrusted by his client for the purchases of land at GM 268 Lot 405, GM269 Lot 407 dan GM 274 Lot 483 at Paya Rumput, Melaka.
He allegedly committed the offence at Kingsley & Co at Taman Kerjasama Bukit Beruang, here, between July 1 and July 31, 2016.
The accused faced another charge for committing CBT at a legal firm No 11, Taman Muzaffar Heights, Melaka, between July 13 and Oct 8 last year.
He allegedly utilised an amount of RM340,000, which was money from a sold property belonging to an 81-year-old client, Lee Hoon Luan Jenny.
Both charges were framed under Section 409 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to 20 years, whipping and also liable to a fine, if found guilty.
The court allowed bail of RM50,000 and fixed Sept 20 for next mention.
Deputy public prosecutor Anis Wahida Mohamad prosecuted, while the accused was represented by lawyer Goh Chin Han.
