SHAH ALAM: Two food delivery riders have been arrested after a video went viral showing an angry mob beating up a man in Setia Alam.

       The 14-second video, which was shared on social media and WhatsApp, shows a group of delivery riders chasing after a man on the road before surrounding him near a car there.

       Several motorcycles are also seen parked by the roadside with delivery food boxes attached to them.

       Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Baharudin Mat Taib said the incident occurred at around 5.30pm on Monday along Jalan Persiaran Setia Perdana, Setia Alam.

       “An accident occurred between a delivery food rider and a lorry there which sparked the incident.

       “A large group of riders began gathering and a fight occurred, ” he said in a statement yesterday.

       He added that two delivery riders had since been arrested to assist in investigations.

       “The Shah Alam Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department has opened an investigation paper on the incident.

       “We are now tracking down the other suspects involved in the case, ” said ACP Baharudin.

       He added that the lorry driver had yet to come forward.

       He said the case was being investigated as rioting, committing mischief and causing damage.

       “I would like to advise the community to refrain from taking matters into their own hands regardless of the situation, ” he said.
