CANTOPOP queen Sammi Cheng, says her husband, singer Andy Hui, is still fearful of making a comeback after his cheating scandal that took place three years ago, Sin Chew Daily reported.
The 54-year-old, who was caught kissing an actress 20 years his junior in the back of a taxi in April 2019, recently signed on with Universal Music in what is speculated to be an effort to restart his career.
During a recent event where Cheng had appeared as a celebrity sponsor, reporters asked her when Hui would be officially back.
“I will cheer him on with bon bons! I say just go with the flow. At the very least, he has to be mentally prepared to face the public and himself, it will be a good time to make a comeback,” said Cheng.
Despite her every confidence, Cheng admitted that Hui was dreading the thought of having to face fans again.
Asked if the couple would be holding a joint concert, Cheng replied in the negative, saying that she was only planning one for her own.
After getting caught red-handed kissing Jacqueline Wong, Hui made a public apology. He cancelled his concerts and took a hiatus.
He was seen testing the waters in 2020 when he performed during the Polygram 50th Anniversary Chill Club by ViuTV and worked on the TV series The Producer in Taiwan a year later.
Wong, whose acting career also came to a standstill, only recently became active again on social media.
> The daily also reported that Hong Kong actress May Chan is making waves in mainland China. The 37-year-old, whose nickname in Cantonese is Sai Sai Lup (Tiny), is growing increasingly popular for her mukbang videos where she streams herself eating large portions of food.
Fans love her cute appearance and cheerful personality. The videos have helped her amass a following of over a million fans on Douyin, China’s equivalent of TikTok.
Many have expressed amazement at the amount of food she is able to consume, which at times, is the equivalent of a dinner for five to six people.
In a recent video, Chan was invited to a seafood restaurant where she ordered nine dishes and finished them all by herself.
She also had six glasses of drinks.
Some Internet users, however, voiced concern over her health as she now weighs around 136kg.
Chan, who has a plus-size physique, is often cast in comedic roles as the gluttonous girl.
She worked a regular office desk job in Kowloon before getting acquainted with Wong Cho-lam, the lead actor of the 2009 film Short of Love in which she had a minor role.
She then spent the next few years acting part-time in minor roles in films and TVB dramas. Chan first gained recognition playing the role of Mo Siu-man in TVB’s 2013 drama Inbound Troubles.
